Eclectica Magazine, Poetry Feature

Snail

I see how you elude,
hidden under mushroom lamp,
the robin and the river current of
a springtime rain.

Happy Poetry Month, Everyone!  I have always loved poetry.  It’s a written art that I feel very much mirrors the way I paint; specific words, similar to colors, that when placed next to each other can create an entire world in just a few strokes.  Poetry month is something I have often enjoyed participating in over the years.  One year I entered the poetry contest through the Seattle Public Library and won a stuffed walrus and the terrifying honor to stand in front of a poet-packed library and read my poem out loud.

Another year I submitted a poem to Hallmark, that was then published in a Mothers Day book of poetry called Thanks, Mom; Letters, Poems, and Short Stories of Gratitude.

This year, I submitted a poem to Eclectica Magazine through their monthly word challenge.  The challenge was to use 4 given words (current, elude, hidden, and lamp) in a poem.  That was it.

So, naturally, I wrote about a snail.

Thanks, Eclectica Magazine for including my tiny poem in your feature!  What a fun opportunity!
