It’s been a while… and there’s a reason! I’ve been working hard with my head down, and am finally excited to announce that my first children’s book is going to be published this fall!!
“Adaa’s Story; the remarkable life of a rescued sea otter” is a nonfiction picture book that I have written and illustrated with guidance from the Seattle Aquarium and the Alaska SeaLife Center. It follows the true story of Adaa, an orphaned sea otter found in Port Heiden, Alaska, who then grew to be the oldest male sea otter on record and lived out his life at the Seattle Aquarium.
Writing and illustrating a children’s book is something I have wanted to do my entire life. Not to be too dramatic, but it’s the one dream I have always consistently dreamed since I was a little girl. It took many starts and fails to get this done, but I am finally able to confidently say that it’s happening! My amazing publisher in Alaska (Fathom Publishing) is guiding me through the process. Another post is due on the process of landing a publisher, and what it means to work with a small independent publisher… it’s been a steep and incredible learning curve! Anyway… I am excited reveal the cover!!
